Despite conflict of interest talk, Councillor Mark King says controversial presentation had substance

A public presentation about the issues with the city’s Downtown Water Front master plan and the 10-year strategic plan still has people buzzing over the accusation of conflicts of interest. Neal McNamara levied allegations that some members of council may not always declare conflicts of interest when it comes to projects that could benefit their personal interests.

Councillor Chris Mayne, and other the councillors he named have said they would declare conflicts on any of the projects included in either plan that would benefit them directly.

Councillor Mark King says the part of his presentation about the downtown water front plan and 10-year strategic plan being a cost burden on the city is the thing people should pay attention too. King called him an interesting fella with some valuable information. King added he believes that McNamara got under the skin of a few councillors, and that was probably a good thing.

King says there’s no question the city has some spending problems right now, and that’s the message he got from the presentation. King says there is going to be a very interesting process that will be taking place shortly about the waterfront master plan and the King’s Landing Wharf.
