North Bay OPP charge 26 drivers during distracted driving campaign

The North Bay Ontario Provincial Police charged 26 drivers with distracted driving during their distracted driving campaign. The campaign started on March 13th and ran until March 19th. This is an increase from the same campaign in 2016, when 12 drivers were charged with distracted driving.

A total of 118 distracted driving charges were reported by the North East Region during the campaign. The OPP is reminding drivers they face a fine of $490 and a loss of 3 demerit points if caught driving while distracted.

The OPP is calling on responsible drivers and passengers to speak up and refuse to tolerate distracted driving. Their goal is to make distracted driving as socially unacceptable as impaired driving.
