MPP Vic Fedeli says the Ontario Liberals usurped government by running ads for hydro plan

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the Ontario Liberals have usurped the government by running ads for a hydro plan that hasn’t even passed in the legislature yet. The ads began running on radio stations across the province last week and they talk about how the Liberals have made important investments in clean and green energy that has come at a cost.

Fedeli says in the words of Ontario’s Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk, these are ads that the Liberal government is using taxpayer money to give themselves a pat on the back. Fedeli says the auditor general warned them about the potential of this after the Liberals changed the law handling advertising. Fedeli says under the old rules, she could have rejected anything she viewed as partisan, but now ads like these just go to her for a rubber stamp.

Fedeli says it’s a little strange how they are announcing dates for programs that haven’t passed at Queen’s Park. He finished by saying what’s the point of having MPPs at Queen’s Park when the government just announces their programs to the public without any debate.
