Age friendly designation possible for North Bay says councillor Mike Anthony

Assuming he’s re-elected, North Bay councillor Mike Anthony wants to pursue an age friendly designation for the community.  Contrary to what council was first told, the World Health Organization issues age friendly designations and Anthony raised that point at council.  Anthony says getting the designation makes a community more attractive for people, young and old, although it doesn’t mean a sudden rise in population like five or 10 percent.  He also says senior governments are making new dollars available for aging baby boomers as they look for more accessible communities.  Anthony says this is worth investigating.   The councillor adds having the designation would give North Bay best practice information it might otherwise not have access to.
