Marianas Trench to headline this year’s Summer in the Park

Marianas Trench has been announced as the headliner for the first night of the Summer in the Park event on Friday, August 4th. Marianas Trench is a Canadian band from Vancouver, British Columbia that was formed in 2001. It consists of members Josh Ramsay, Matt Webb, Mike Ayley, and Ian Casselman. The band has released four full-length studio albums, the most recent titled Astoria, released on October 23, 2015, along with 2011’s Ever After, 2009’s Masterpiece Theatre and 2006’s Fix Me. Their third album Ever After and their current album Astoria were both nominated for a JUNO Award. Summer in the Park Committee Member, Derek Shogren says they are thrilled to have locked down one of the hottest bands in Canada. Shogren added these guys play across the country and around the world.

Since their debut in 2006, Fix Me, the Vancouver, BC-based band have had two Certified Platinum-selling records (Masterpiece Theatre, Ever After), chart topping hits including ‘Fallout,’ ‘Haven’t Had Enough,’ and ‘Stutter,’ garnered multiple SOCAN and MMVA Awards, number 1 videos on MuchMusic, and JUNO nominations, and won the 2013 JUNO Award for Group of the Year. Over time Marianas Trench have toured relentlessly in Canada and globally; headlining tours in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and the US. They’ve also headlined events at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, as well as in the Philippines and South Korea. They performed at half time at the 100th Grey Cup and 2013 Junos along with headlining the Canadian Radio Music Awards.

Shogren says these guys put on one heck of a show, and their concerts are entertainment at its best. He added anyone who sees a Marianas Trench show wants to see them again and again. Marianas Trench has most recently been nominated for a 2017 JUNO for Pop Album of the Year. Shogren finished by saying this gives Marianas Trench fans an opportunity to see them live at a low cost, and this is going to be another incredible Summer in the Park weekend he can’t wait for. Wristbands are only $35, including HST, until July 1st and can be purchased at: www.northbaysummerinthepark.ca
