Kimberly Bester-Melanson from Trout Creek is celebrating after winning the top prize of $250,000 in a recent instant crossword deluxe game. Bester-Melanson took her ticket home where she scratched it. She says she likes to relax and play the games with a cup of coffee or a little chocolate treat. She added she could see pretty quickly that this ticket was a winner. But she couldn’t tell how much she’d won. When she back to the Trout Creek General Store, the terminal shut down so she had no idea what was happening. Pretty quickly she figured out as OLG called the store and her validation slip for $250,000 was printed.
After leaving the store, Bester-Melanson stopped by her daughter’s place and asked her how much does she still own on her student loan. Her daughter replayed why are you asking, and that’s when she said she won the lottery and would help pay it off. The win was timely for the family, as her daughter is her first baby, a little girl, who is due in two months. Bester-Melanson has some other plans also underway for the winnings. She says her son recently bought a truck and that will be fully paid off too. As for her, she says she can’t wait to get a new car, and will give her current vehicle to her daughter so she has an easy way to get around with the baby.
