Council and developer abide OMB ruling

In an 8-3 vote North Bay, city council has cleared the way for a housing development at the former hospital site on Scollard.  Area residents opposed the resolution triggering an Ontario Municipal Board hearing earlier this year.  In considering the residents’ concerns the OMB ruled in favour of the city but attached conditions that must be met.  They include the developer producing a record of site condition meaning any problems at the site need to be addressed before homes go up.  The three councillors who voted against the motion were George Maroosis, Mark King and Sarah Campbell because they still had problems with it.
