Students from Canadore College dominate Aviation Competition at Provincial Competition

Canadore College aircraft maintenance students David Gellately and Jason Lawton took home the highest awards from the Skills Ontario Competition. Lawton was awarded gold and Gellately silver in the post-secondary aircraft maintenance category during the competition’s closing ceremonies yesterday. Lawton, the gold medal winner, will now have the opportunity to compete at the Skills Canada National Competition being held in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Aircraft maintenance professor Brett Chadwick says both guys have put a lot of effort into their education and practical learning experience. Chadwick says he really commends both guys for their efforts at this competition, throughout their two years at Canadore and for their involvement with Royal Canadian Air Cadets. He says you can really see how their interest in aviation has been nurtured from a young age, and added he speaks for all their professors when he says they feel like proud parents today.
