Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says Premier Kathleen Wynne has once again proven she doesn’t know what’s in her own budget, or is aware and choosing fiction over fact. Wynne announced during a stop in North Bay yesterday that the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines budget wasn’t cut by $70-million as the PCs have claimed, it was actually increased by $30-billion. Fedeli says he’s not sure what Budget the Premier read, because on page 241 of the Budget, it very clearly illustrates that last year MNDM’s budget was $837M and this year it is $767M.
He says it doesn’t get clearer than that, and it’s unfortunate for the Premier that the facts simply don’t line up with what she is saying. Fedeli says the Premier’s statement was absolute nonsense. He asks how the numbers add up considering this year’s budget is even lower than the $804M the Ministry received in the 2014 budget. Fedeli says after a $70M cut, she’s claiming there was a $30M increase, which is simply false. He says it’s truly concerning that this government continues to say one thing while the complete opposite is true. Fedeli concluded by saying in the end, after all the waste, mismanagement, and scandal, this government will learn that facts still matter to the people of Ontario.
