Cory Marquardt and Lighthouse announced as part of Armed Forces Day celebrations

North Bay’s Cory Marquardt and Lighthouse will be performing as part of this year’s celebrations for Armed Forces Day. Mayor Al McDonald made the announcement this morning at City Hall. McDonald reached out months ago to Marquadt, who says he’s excited to perform in his home town during the weekend. McDonald hoped that Marquardt could be in attendance, but he’s currently in Las Vegas.

All the events during Armed Forces Day and the lead up to Canada 150 are all free, and McDonald says it’s going to be a great weekend for the city. The City of North Bay will be celebrating Armed Forces Day on June 16th. Activities will be held at the Canadore Aviation Campus between 10:00am and 2:00pm with static displays and air demonstrations from the SkyHawks parachute team and Snowbirds.

July 1st, 2017 is the 150th birthday of Canada and the 70th year of Canadian citizenship. The lead up to Canada 150 Twilight Air Demo will take place on June 17th. The festivities be held at the North Bay Waterfront between 5:00pm and 11:00pm. They will include performances from the SkyHawks Parachute team, Snowbirds, CF-18 after burner demonstration. There had been some concern last week that the Snowbirds may not be able to attend the events, but Honorary Colonel George Burton announced this morning that all acts have been confirmed for the weekend.

The musical performances from Marquardt and Lighthouse will be down at the waterfront at the Kiwanis Bandshell. McDonald finished by saying people can come down for the airshows, and never have to leave the same spot when the music starts.
