No committee meeting, but a couple noteworthy items on the regular agenda at city council

North Bay city council meet tonight, with the regular meeting of council starting things off at 6:30pm because tonight’s committee meeting has been cancelled. Invest North Bay will be one of the topics in the spotlight, with George Burton presenting an update on the Development Corporation and a report on the agenda requesting a million dollars in funding for the group. The other public presentation is from Peter Emon and it’s about four-laning Highway 18.

A couple other reports of note include more recommendations from the Downtown Waterfront Advisory Committee, and one about the on-street winter parking ban. The recommendation would change the run time of the ban from November 1st to April 15th. If approved, it would see parking banned between 3:00am to 6:30am in the downtown, until 8:30am on cul-de-sacs and dead end streets and from 3:00am until 7:30am everywhere else. It’s also expected that city council will vote on ice rental rates after Councillor Mark King forced the issue forward for a vote two weeks ago.
