Guy Fournier named Senior of the Year 2017

Mayor Al McDonald presented Guy Fournier with the Senior of the Year 2017 on behalf of the City of North Bay earlier this week. McDonald says Fournier is truly a local champion that loves his city, and makes a difference in the community on so many fronts. As the incoming President of United Way/Centraide North East Ontario, Fournier was commended by United Way. Officials say his assistance in the establishment of the local office and fundraising efforts have been integral to United Way’s local success.

Executive Director of United Way, Michael Cullen says it’s through the selfless giving of volunteers such as Fournier that United Way is able to assist communities to support local programming and initiatives. Cullen added without them they wouldn’t be able to create opportunities for better lives for everyone, and they’re thrilled he’s been recognized in this way.

Fournier also received letters of support for his work in the establishment of the North Bay Community Foundation and his many, many years of service to the Knights of Columbus. Fournier has also supported the French Cultural Organization of North Bay, Les campagnons for several business luncheons over the year and celebrates different francophone events, such as the French Carnaval, Noel and St Jean Batiste Day.
