North Bay Police face local youth in volleyball challenge

Youth aged 13 to 17 will be taking on North Bay Police officers in a friendly after-school volleyball at the North Bay Indian Friendship Centre at 980 Cassells Street. All youth are welcome. Things get started at 3:30pm, and the event is free for anyone to attend.

Organizers of today’s event will use the opportunity to share information with local Aboriginal youth about the annual Niigan Mosewak, Ojibwe for “Walking Forward”, mentorship program. It takes place over the summer months at Spirit Point Lodge in Trout Creek. There are three separate sessions taking place this year. One from July 16th to the 21st, one from July 23rd to 28th and one from August 20th to the 25th.

Organized in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police’s Aboriginal Policing Bureau, the North Bay Police Service, the Anishnabek Police Service and the West Nipissing Police Service, Niigan Mosewak delivers a positive message of hope to young Indigenous leaders through the encouragement of healthy lifestyle choices.
