LCBO workers in North Bay to make the case for ‘A Better LCBO’ today

An information picket about concerns over privatization is being held by LCBO workers outside the Lakeshore Drive location today. Workers will be asking people to support their plan for “A Better LCBO” from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Picket lines have been popping up at LCBO locations around the province to raise awareness about this issue.

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union is concerned about LCBO privatization efforts, calling the provincial government’s move to sell beer, wine and cider in grocery stores creeping privatization. Back in April, workers voted 93 per cent in favour of a strike over contract demands. Some of the main sticking points in the labour dispute include improving hours for casual employees and safety measures.
