A special board meeting is being held in the auditorium at West Ferris Secondary School tonight, where residents will be able to weigh in on ARC recommendations for six schools in North Bay. The Near North District School Board’s accommodation review committee has recommended closing Chippewa Secondary School while refurbishing West Ferris and Widdifield.
The ARC also recommended closing the three elementary schools involved in the process and building a new school at the W.J. Fricker site. A number of presenters will weigh in, and then trustees will make a final decision at their June 27th Board Meeting.
Before the meeting, the ‘Stop The Superschool’ group will hold a rally outside. The group was present on Lakeshore Drive this morning for a rally as well. The ‘Stop The Superschool’ group is made up of parents, former NNDSB career employees, community members and academics from the North Bay area.
