Tax Incentive motion, and recommendations for this year’s Summer in the Park headline city council agenda

North Bay city council meets tonight, and like two weeks ago, there’s no committee meeting so the regular meeting kicks things off at 6:30pm. No public presentations are currently scheduled for tonight’s meeting, but six reports are on the council agenda. Recommendations for this year’s Summer in the Park, a hazardous waste funding agreement, and a recommendation to approve the tax appeal applications from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation are among them.

There’s also a by-law that will officially authorize the user fees at ice rinks around North Bay, and as Moose News reported before the weekend, Councillor Mark King will bring forward a motion calling on the province to create Tax Incentives in Northeastern Ontario. The motion will look at redirecting some growth taking place in Southern Ontario by offering tax reductions, tax exemptions and relocation initiatives to people choosing to move to Northern Ontario.
