North Bay Blooms nominations now open

After a cool and wet spring, North Bay Blooms has announced nominations for this summer’s best front yard gardens are now open. At their kick off at Canada Post this morning, officials recognized and thanked Canada Post for once again helping to bring in most of this summer’s nominations. About 100 nominations are expected overall. North Bay Master Gardener Vicki Doucette says after a slow start to gardening this summer, everyone now seems even more excited to see the flowers and colours blooming around town.

Nominations will close on June 30th, and will then be passed on to the North Bay Horticultural Society for the first round of judging. From the top ten front yard gardens picked, the North Bay Master Gardeners will then select the top three, First place receives a $200 garden center certificate, and the second and third place will receive $100 certificates.

Vegetable front yard gardens are also welcome to be nominated as a new category this summer and best front yard vegetable garden will receive a certificate of recognition. Officials say business gardens are also welcome to be nominated. North Bay Blooms Business Garden of the Week awards will start on Friday, June 30th.
