Near North board weighs in on school funding issue

Count the Near North District School Board has another board that wants answers on how the province doled out special education funding.  The District School Board Ontario North East was the first to raise the alarm when it noticed that out of $22-million, the French language boards got half.  The English boards are questioning this since most students attend English public boards.   Near North board chair Dave Thompson says trustees want answers.  Thompson says boards want to know the rationale the province used when allocating funds and they also want equity.   Thompson says the lack of equitable resources is an ongoing issue for northern English public boards.  Thompson says it’s great that the French boards got a large amount of money and now it’s time for the English public boards to be treated fairly.
