Frustration is the only word to describe Timiskaming-Cochrane MPP John Vanthof’s reaction to Bell Aliant being allowed to buy Ontera. Vanthof welcomes news that the Competition Bureau is ordering Bell to lease part of the telecommunications infrastructure to Eastlink. But he wants to know what happens after the lease expires adding will northerners be protected under a monopoly. Vanthof says the Liberals have a habit of signing bad deals, saying in the Ontera sale, Bell is picking it up for a fraction of its true value.
