Beware: Blue-green algae found in local lakes…

The Health Unit is warning about some blue-green algae blooms found in local lakes. The algae was spotted in Cache Lake, Clear Lake in Perry Township, and Lake Talon in Bonfield. The algae has the potential of producing toxins. People on private water systems should avoid drinking, cooking, and bathing in these lakes. The Health Unit is also reminding people that boiling the water doesn’t get rid of toxins, and to avoid eating any fish that have been caught in these lakes. At high levels, blue green algae can cause nervous system damage.

Stethoscope heart shape. Clipping path included.
