Nipissing Detention Centre youths recaptured

Two young people who escaped from the Nipissing Detention Centre weren’t on the loose very long.  The pair broke out by assaulting two employees and then driving away in a vehicle owned by the detention centre.  The break-out took place just after midnight on Canada Day.  North Bay police had the pair back in custody when a spike belt flattened the tires on Highway 17.  They both face numerous charges including choking, robbery and theft of motor vehicle.   Because they’re under 18, the young people can’t be identified.  City police got help recapturing the young people from the OPP, West Nipissing police and First Nation police.
