Northern Ontario possibly in line for two more ridings

Northern Ontario’s 11 provincial ridings could increase to 13.  The Far North Electoral Boundaries Commission is proposing creating two First Nation ridings from two existing ones.  The ridings in question are Kenora-Rainy River and Timmins-James Bay.  The Commission is holding another round of hearings with the goal of submitting a final report by August 1st.  Then it’s up to the province to introduce legislation before October 30th in order to have the new ridings created in time for next June’s election.
