It’s not a runaway, but a poll finds that Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus leads the pack to become the next leader of the federal NDP. Mainstreet Research says Angus has just under 23 percent support among NDP members the firm polled. In second is Niki Ashton, a Manitoba MP who clocks in with about 20 percent support. In third and fourth respectively with single digit support are Ontario MPP Jagmeet Singh and Guy Caron, a Quebec MP. In September New Democrats cast their votes on who to pick as Thomas Mulcair’s successor.
