Drivers can expect slow moving traffic later this week between Callander and North Bay along Highway 11. City road crews have been working on ramps on both the north and southbound lanes over the last few weeks. The southbound traffic will be diverted to the northbound lanes while construction is underway. City officials say they expect the two-lane traffic to continue for the rest of the summer with all the construction expected to be completed by the end of August.
Also posted on the city’s website is information that the Seymour Street and Highway 11/17 intersection improvements are planned to start in the fall of 2017. Those include the completion of the temporary detour to the west side of Hwy 11/17 and installation of the storm sewer on the east side. In the spring of 2018, the widening on the east side along with the east leg of Seymour Street will be completed. Then by summer of 2018 traffic will be temporarily relocated to the east side of Hwy11/17, and the storm sewer will be completed on that side. In the fall of 2018, the west side will be completed along with the west leg of Seymour Street and the undisturbed portions of both roads will be resurfaced in the spring and summer of 2019.
