North Bay city council returns after mid-summer hiatus tonight

It’s been nearly a month since North Bay city councillors got together for a meeting, but they’ll be back at city hall tonight. There’s no committee meeting of council, so that means the regular meeting will get underway at 6:30pm. No public presentations are currently listed on the agenda, while seven reports and one motion are.

Some of the more noteworthy reports include one calling on council to adopt the City of North Bay’s Blue Box and Waste Diversion Plan prepared by Engineering and Environmental Services. Another involves the renewal of the Transit Service Agreement with Nipissing University for a period of three years beginning in the September 2017 academic year.

The motion is from Councillor George Maroosis which looks for the city and Nipissing First Nation to work together to rename the first Monday in August, in each year, known as the Civic Holiday, to reflect the true spirit of strong friendship between the two communities for August 6th of next year.
