King to table motion calling for a quiet zone along Connaught Avenue near Trout Lake Road next week

Delivery trucks parking along Connaught Avenue near Trout Lake Road causing noise complaints for residents is the focus of a motion coming to city council next week. Councillor Mark King will table the motion calling for a quiet zone for delivery trucks parking along Connaught Avenue. King says the issue is the trucks line up behind a Trout Lake Road grocery causing late-night noise concerns.

He says it’s his neighbourhood, and he’s representing his neighbours by bringing forth their concerns. King says he’s tried other options to this point, with no success. He says he’s already called police twice, and bylaw enforcement but neither had the power to stop it. King says the idea isn’t to restrict trucks in and out of the existing businesses, just the residential and unloading areas nearby.

King says you’ve got to be able to let the business do their business. But, he says the fact that all of these trucks are from out-of-town, moving stuff in the middle of the night and sitting in parking lots adjacent to residential areas isn’t what he considers the right thing to do.
