MNRF crews battling forest fires near Temagami

While British Columbia is dealing with deadly forest fires, 23 fires are active in the North-East Region right now with two close to home. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reports they have crews battling a pair of active forest fires near Temagami.

North Bay Fire 5, which started July 30th, is a hectare in size near Wakimika Lake and still isn’t under control. Better news for North Bay Fire 6, 0.2 hectare in size and located north of the lake, where crews recently gained control of the situation.

A  representative from the ministry says the 23 fires active in the region right now are typical for this time of year, but can change at any time due to the dry weather and lack of precipitation recently.
