Laurier Woods hosting 4th Annual Nature Festival

The 4th Annual Louise de Kiriline Lawrence Nature Festival at the Laurier Woods Conservation Area is being held on Saturday, August 19th. The event is being hosted by the Friends of Laurier Woods, the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority, and the Nipissing Naturalists Club.

The festival celebrates healthy activities in the outdoors. Laurier Woods Conservation Area comes alive with professional and amateur naturalists who will introduce visitors of all ages to the hidden treasures and benefits of forests and wetlands.

Featured activities of this free festival include:

9:00am – Birds of Laurier Woods with Lisa Hackett

9:30am – Plants of Laurier Woods with Lori Beckerton and nature photography with Dave Clement

10:00am – Painters in the woods with Anne Clement and yoga inspired by nature with Amanda Lanno

10:30am – Insects of Laurier Woods with Brent Turcotte

11:00am – Get to know Tai-chi with Marion Russell

1:30pm – Shirin yuko with Fred Pinto

2:00pm – Get to know Tai-chi with Marion Russell

2:30pm – Nature photography with Dave Clement

Activities occurring all day include aquatic Insects, animal tracks, wood crafts for children, fossils and eggs and face painting. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about wildlife tracking stations, each passively receiving tracking information from tagged animals, including birds, bats, and even butterflies. The festival is free for all to attend.
