City Hall entranceway getting a makeover

A report from city staff is recommending that council approve a contract in the amount of $134,900 (plus HST) to Pronor Construction Limited to renovate the main entrance at North Bay’s City Hall.

Included in the project is the replacement of all doors at the main entrance and an adjustment to the interlocking bricks outside the doors to bring the slope in line with accessibility standards. A drop ceiling will also be added in the area between the two sets of doors to facilitate heating, cooling, and better lighting.

The report deems the main entrance door system to be “well beyond its useful life.” The project will bring the entranceway up to accessibility standards. Extreme temperature variations have caused poor sealing and twisted door frames in the existing structure.
