After Don Chatelaine learned from a North Bay fire inspector that he would have to pony up $30,000 to update the sprinkler system in his shop he figured that was the end of it. There was no way he could afford such an expense. Chatelaine would be forced to close his business.
Maybe not. Members of the community are reaching out and are organizing a GoFundMe campaign to either move the store to a new location or perhaps even pay for the sprinkler system.
Chatelaine, who lives above the shop, will also have to vacate his home, as will another tenant upstairs at the McIntyre Street West business.
