John and Nathan Serran are winners of the Downtown Improvement Area’s “Win This Space” contest.
The co-owners and operators of SugarDaddy Cupcakes & Catering won a close contest that organizers say had 10 solid proposals. Geoff Richardson, one of the judges, says that the Serrans’ commitment to family life and a strong work and family balance spoke to the judges.
The couple will look to open the doors at their new location by October 1. The prize in the contest is one year of rent covered by sponsors. A retail space, as well as space to bake, are key draws for the entrepreneurs as they expand their business.
The duo says that it was an opportunity that they could not pass up, adding that they will be adding positions with the company in the near future, especially bakers.
