Canadore College welcomes students for the academic year

Classes do not begin until Sept. 5, but 110 students have already moved into their residences, with another 310 to join them over the Labour Day weekend. This year’s group living in residence is comprised of the highest ever segment from the international community.

Canadore College president George Burton is anticipating a fruitful experience for both new and returning members of the student body.

Burton says, “Our whole team is remarkably enthusiastic and excited to be welcoming back our students.”

Canadore is set to welcome students from nearly 400 Canadian communities and 15 countries. All told, the school is expecting a four per cent growth in student attendance for the fall semester, covering Indigenous, domestic, and international students.

Students living in residence will experience tutorials on subjects ranging from cooking, sexual consent awareness, and health-related activities.

This week, the College hosts its 11th Summer Transition program, designed to help students with identified learning disabilities ease anxieties, reduce barriers, bolster self-assurance and support a positive transition into college life with an aim for greater success.
