Police shatter thief’s hopes for freedom

North Bay Police Service say they have arrested and charged a man in connection with a spree of break and enters at local businesses this summer.

A 45-year-old North Bay man has been charged with 13 counts of break and enter and five counts of breach of recognizance after his arrest Wednesday by the Street Crime Unit.

Several of the crimes that the man has been charged with, police say, involved using rocks or heavy objects to smash through the windows or doors of businesses to gain entry.

Some of the affected businesses reported damages in the thousands, and police have said that cash, laptops, and other items were targeted in the crimes.

The man remains in police custody, pending a bail hearing.
