Police make arrest after shoplifter gets ornery

North Bay Police Service say they dispatched officers yesterday to the Northgate Shopping Centre area to apprehend an 18-year-old man identified by Walmart security for shoplifting.

Officers assisted security after the man threatened to kill the security guard and spit at him.

The man was arrested on Fisher Street a short time later.

Police say they have charged the man with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of uttering threats, and one count of assault.

The accused is in custody pending a bail hearing.
