There’s a warning from the OPP inspector from the Temiskaming detachment about fentanyl. Brent Cecchini say bootleg fentanyl is starting to show up in some communities. Bootleg fentanyl can look like counterfeit pills or powder and people have died as a result of overdosing on it. Cecchini says drug abuse has also been connected to a rise in violent acts and property related crimes. He’s reminding the public that information they have on drug activity can get them a cash reward of up to two thousand dollars by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Cecchini says medications, like fentanyl can be stolen from homes and businesses, especially drug stores. The reminder to pharmacy owners is to ensure their supplies are locked at all times. Police also have a reminder for doctors; make sure your prescription pads are also secure. The advice helps minimize the chance that someone will steal the pad and write a fake prescription on it using the credentials on the pad to pass it off as the Real McCoy to a pharmacist Cecchini is reminding the public that information they have on drug activity can get them a cash reward of up to $2,000 by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
