Fedeli says more must be done to curb opioid crisis

MPP Vic Fedeli has brought local concerns about the opioid crisis to Queen’s Park.

Fedeli made his address, Tuesday, saying he is echoing a recent resolution passed by Mattawa council. In his statement, Fedeli outlined how the crisis has affected Nipissing, which has had 15 fentanyl-related deaths. Fedeli says the introduction of the Patch 4 Patch program, the focus of his Private Members Bill has helped since its adoption in 2015.

“But, clearly more must be done,” Fedeli adds.

Provincial support is being called for to curb the 13-straight years of increasing deaths due to opioid overdoses, which include a 19 per cent jump in 2016. Mattawa recently called for more provincial support to deal with the opioid crisis on local levels.
