A 20-year-old-man has been arrested and charged with distributing an intimate image without consent after using a website advertising that he had several images to trade. The man was arrested after communicating with an undercover police account and sending the intimate images of a female victim.
Police seized a cellphone at the time of the man’s arrest and a search warrant was issued to allow for the search of evidence pertaining to the female victim or other victims. During the search, police say a large quantity of intimate images of numerous other females were found.
As a result of that search, a second underage victim was identified and police say that evidence from the phone showed that the man had distributed intimate images of the second underage female by email. The photos of the victim meet the Criminal Code definition of child pornography.
The man was re-arrested and charged with a second count of distributing an intimate image, possession of child pornography, and distribution of child pornography.
The man was released on a promise to appear with a court date of November 7.
