A commemorative ceremony marking the 77th anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be held Sunday at Memorial Park, located adjacent to Branch 23 of the Royal Canadian Legion on First Avenue West.
Members of the public are invited to attend a wreath laying ceremony and a parade consisting of a 30-person flight from 22 Wing/CFB North Bay and a flight of Veterans and Air Cadets from 547 “Canuck” Squadron.
In the event of inclement weather, the Legion will host the ceremony.
The Battle of Britain was fought throughout the summer of 1940, pitting RAF and RCAF fighters against the German Luftwaffe in air battles. The Allies were victorious on September 15, 1940.
