Octogenarian walks for son who died of blood cancer

Organizers are thrilled by the continued support of the Terry Fox Run in North Bay.

This year’s event raised $8,494.69, funds that will go toward finding a cure for cancer.

All of the 2017 participants are champions for their contributions, but one notable 10-kilometre walker has been on a highly personal quest. Ron Breslin has been taking part in various charity walks, determined to raise $10,000 in honour of his son Mike, who passed away from multiple myeloma after a 10-year battle with that form of blood cancer.

Ron is 85-years-old, and with the $1,694 he raised for the Terry Fox Run, he has broken the $9,000 mark overall. Ron says that he hopes to reach his goal next year.
