City of North Bay crews got in some prep work in some abnormal conditions.
Crews took part in annual training in the parking lot at Pete Palangio Arena, Tuesday, in preparation for the upcoming winter plowing and snow removal season. Operators manoeuvred the City vehicles through a course that simulates obstacles such as bridges and railway crossings.
Supervisor Marcel Bedard says the training course is viewed as a refresher for operators, with safety on the roads paramount to the lessons. Defensive driving is stressed to avoid mid-season complacency among drivers, so as to avoid letting their guards down on the roads after so much repetition.
Bedard agrees the conditions Tuesday will be the nicest these operators will see for several months.
