New Democrat fields Moose questions on statutory holiday proposal

The MPP for Algoma Manitoulin is proposing an Indigenous Day statutory holiday for Ontario because it’s one of the recommendations in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.   Mike Mantha, who is the NDP’s critic for Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, told Moose News, he decided to champion the cause.   Moose news asked about the added expense businesses will face because of another holiday.    In response Mantha says his Bill is designed to trigger a debate to see how best to achieve this end.   Mantha’s Private Member’s Bill next goes on the order paper for second reading and debate.  However there’s no schedule of when it comes back for that second reading.
