‘North Bay’s Victorian Order of Nurses’ exhibit opening

Discovery North Bay Museum is pleased to show the North Bay’s Victorian Order of Nurses exhibit, officially open at 3:00 pm on Friday.

A public reception will be held in concert with the opening. All are welcome to attend this free event sponsored by the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) and the IODE. This year marks the 120th Anniversary of the VON. Museum staff worked with the VON, who donated their historical archives to the museum. A historical exhibit that outlines the role the VON played in North Bay is the result.

The exhibit includes uniforms, tools, scrapbooks, and photos connected to the history of the VON in North Bay. Visitors can also try their hand at “Spinach,” a game produced by the VON to help nurses teach their patients about nutrition and healthy living.

The exhibit will be open until November 17.
