Missing man’s phone pinged North Bay cell tower

Police and family members are reaching out for any information on a missing Markham man.

York Regional Police believe 38-year-old Eugene Kim could be in Algonquin Park after he was spotted buying a park pass with an unknown person on Monday afternoon. Police also found his cellphone had been used near North Bay earlier that day.

Kim was reported missing late Monday night after he never returned to his home in Markham. Kim’s wife says he had dropped off their kids that morning for school and he was last in touch with her via text on Monday night saying he would be home soon. He never told anyone he’d be in North Bay or Algonquin Park and his family isn’t sure why he would be in this area.

Algonquin Park officials have searched the park for Kim using a helicopter, but haven’t turned up anything. York Police is working with OPP in Muskoka to continue to search for Kim. Police say if anyone has spotted Kim this week in the area or knows where he might be they should call their local detachment right away. You can also leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
