Site of last winter’s snowed-in bus stop gets a sidewalk

A stretch of McKeown Avenue that has caused controversy in winters past will be getting a sidewalk.

The segment of the road on the south side of McKeown Avenue between Champlain Street and the entrance to McKeown Commons will be under construction until further notice, according to the City of North Bay.

The City is advising that there will be a lane closure for eastbound traffic in this area, adding that delays are expected.

The sidewalk will be plowed regularly throughout the winter months. In the past, transit riders waited in deep snowbanks throughout the season and had no clear path to access traffic lights from which to cross the busy thoroughfare.
