Fire and food pair once again for a good cause

At the Fill a Firetruck event held recently at Parker’s Your Independent Grocer, 1,275 pounds of food and $1,390 has been donated to benefit the North Bay Food Bank.

Fire Prevention Officer Chris Nichol says it was an effective way to relay important fire safety information to the public while helping out a worthy cause.

North Bay Food Bank manager Amber Livingstone is pleased by the success of the event. “Our local fire department is a great community supporter. This event is an opportunity for the young, and the young at heart, to get a chance to see a firetruck up close, donate to help our neighbours in need, and take home important information about fire prevention.

“Thank you to our volunteers, and to everyone who made a donation.”

The North Bay Food Bank is available to accept food and monetary donations year round. The food bank is located at 1016 Fisher Street in North Bay and is open to serve clients Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00 am until noon, and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
