North Bay Police Service have arrested and charged a 21-year-old French national who they say made a threat against a local woman.
Police say the man travelled to Canada from France to visit a woman from North Bay that he met online. He has been charged with knowingly conveying a threat after telling her in an online conversation that he would “find her and kill her.”
Police report that the accused and victim met on social media in May 2016 and continued their online relationship until June 2017. When the victim attempted to end the relationship, the man made the threat. In September 2017 the accused reconnected with the victim and on October 15, the man was arrested at a local restaurant for uttering threats.
The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
