More beds for health centre to help deal with flu season

Eight additional beds will be created at the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC).

The province has announced 2,000 additional patient beds across Ontario to mitigate the effects of the flu season.

Along with the beds comes relief funding for several months for the NBRHC, up to half a million dollars to operate the new beds. The North East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) has 31 more beds which will be allocated based on need.

The province is encouraging Ontario residents to get the free flu vaccine, available at health units, pharmacies, or health care providers offices beginning this week.
