Firefighter Greg Macie has been honoured for his 20 years of distinguished service. Ontario Fire Marshal Ross Nicholls, Fire Chief Jason Whiteley and Mayor Al McDonald presented Macie with the award at a fire investiture ceremony held Monday.
Deputy Chief Greg Saunders says the ceremony is an opportunity for the provincial and federal government to recognize the dedicated and distinguished service of NBFES personnel within the City of North Bay. Personnel have been given medals for either 20, 25, or 30 years of service.
Saunders adds that “it was an opportunity for children of our personnel to feel immense pride,” for their fathers who were being formally recognized for their efforts.
“It was also an opportunity to recognize the spouses of our personnel for the support they provide after we get home from managing challenging incidents,” says the Deputy Chief, who also gave a special thank you to Ontario Fire Marshal Ross Nicholls for coming to North Bay to attend the ceremony
