Seniors’ care Bill passes second reading

Proposed legislation from the NDP that ensures seniors in long term care get at least four hours of care daily is closer to becoming law.  The proposed change from Nickel Belt MPP France Gelinas has passed second reading and next goes through a committee stage for further debate.  Gelinas says families are concerned that loved ones aren’t getting the hands-on care they deserve.  She says right now Ontario offers the lowest level of care for seniors in nursing homes across Canada.   Gelinas adds that insufficient hands-on care is putting the health and hygiene of seniors in these facilities at risk.
