Man seizes ‘window’ to escape attacker

A 35-year-old North Bay man faces charges for forcible confinement, uttering threats, assault, assault with a weapon, and two counts of breach of recognizance.

Police say just past midnight on November 5, 2017, North Bay Police officers attended a residence on Fourth Avenue East after a call had been received lodging a complaint of an assault.

The victim says he was asleep on the couch when the accused, a man known to him, punched him in the face and threatened to kill him for stealing. The victim was then confined to the residence at knife-point. The victim managed to escape the residence through a window and go to a neighbour’s to call police.

The male victim was transported to the hospital to be treated for minor, non-life threatening injuries.

The accused has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
